Exploring cultures and communities – the slow way

Changing trains

Warsaw’s Wschodnia station, on the east bank of the River Wisla a few kilometres east of the Polish capital’s centre, is one of those railway stations where changing trains is not a bundle of fun. Perhaps not quite so grim as Birmingham New Street in England, but scarcely a fine introduction to Warsaw. This eastern suburb of Warsaw is one of those 'placeless' housing complexes that we run into all over central and eastern Europe. Be it in Minsk, Omsk or here in Warsaw, they all look pretty similar. Just take a peek!
