The curative regimes at Bad Saarow (see the feature left) focused on the supposed therapeutic qualities of peaty mud. Another town that established a reputation in the same field was Saky, a resort overlooking Kalamita Bay in the Ukrainian Crimea region. The so-called mud hospital in Saky was established in 1827 and is still in operation today. And Saky remains a hugely popular year-round destination for Russians searching for relaxation.
