When the ferry link from Harwich to Cuxhaven (in Germany) was closed in November 2005, it was widely reported in the media that, with the loss of the route, so ended a long era of international passenger ferries from Germany's North Sea ports. Yet that is not quite the case. Hardy souls who enjoy freight ferries can still travel five times each week from Cuxhaven to Immingham (on the Humber) on ships operated by DFDS Tor Line.
