The turtles have not yet arrived. But they will. Come mid-May, the beaches and coves of the Karpas Peninsula will suddenly become the incubators for the next generation of sea turtles. For both the green turtle and the loggerhead turtle, the waters around the peninsula are home. Karpas is an extension of Cyprus that points with determination towards the Levant - the easternmost extremity of the divided island at Cape Apostolos Andreas (Zafer Burnu in Turkish) is just eighty kilometres from the Syrian port of Latakia.
