Summary

Bratislava's suburbs - with Austria and Hungary both just a stone's throw away

The Slovak capital, Bratislava, might well lay claim to the title of being Europe's most international capital. Stand in the middle of the Nový most, that oddly asymmetric modern bridge that spans the Danube, and you are within a few kilometres of not just one, but two, other countries. Austria lies just three kilometres away to the west. And Hungary is a mere fifteen kilometres distant. Not even the city of Luxembourg, close though it is to both France and Germany, can match that! From the flying saucer style restaurant - aptly called UFO and happily recently reopened - that sits atop the bridge, there are fine views across the vast housing estate of Petrzalka towards Hungary. And closer to hand, look down to thge Danube and nearby Austria.
