Latvia's Liv minority

Few visitors to Latvia make it to the remote northwest of the country. Good roads peter out to gravel as you travel from Ventspils towards Cape Kolka. This is a part of Latvia that was until recently by-passed by modernity. Wooden houses are protected from the fierce Baltic wind by small clumps of trees, and with the coast quickly giving way to marshes inland you have a sense of approaching the very end of the world.
