In the next issue of hidden europe, we shall report from eastern Iceland and also look at a week in the life of a modern cruise ferry — the ship in question is the MS Norröna operated by the Faroese company Smyril Line.

As a counterpoint to these northern diversions, Laurence Mitchell, who has contributed regularly to the magazine, will report from the Lasithi plateau area of the Greek island of Crete — once famous for its windmills, though sadly not so many of them are in use nowadays.
