Injured Nobile engaged in Italia rescue mission

article summary —

injured Nobile engaged in Italia rescue mission

After some days of fog, rescue efforts resume with Nobile himself also taking part (in spite of his injuries). The ice around the Italia camp is now breaking up in the warmth of the Arctic summer making any further rescue effort by plane impossible. But a fleet of small planes from various countries are still scouring the region, looking for Amundsen. And searching too for Adalberto Mariano, Filippo Zappi and Finn Malmgren who had set out from the crash site to walk south in search of help. Russian icebreakers are steaming slowly through the ice towards the crash site.
